Cerebrolysin
aka FPF-1070
Mechanism
Cerebrolysin is not a single peptide but a complex biologic produced by enzymatic hydrolysis of purified porcine brain tissue, containing low-molecular-weight peptides (<10 kDa) and free amino acids. Manufactured by EVER Pharma (Austria), it is registered in 50+ countries (Europe, Asia, Russia, Latin America) for ischemic stroke, traumatic brain injury, and dementia, but is NOT FDA-approved in the United States.

Research
Cerebrolysin has a salutary effect on impaired cerebral endothelial cell (CEC) permeability. Using an in vitro endothelial permeability assay, the present study tested the hypothesis that exosomes released by Cerebrolysin-treated CECs (Cerebro-Exos) have a robust therapeutic effect on dysfunctional CECs.
source →Kynurenic acid (KYNA), a metabolite of the L-kynurenine pathway of L-tryptophan degradation, is an endogenous blocker of glutamate ionotropic excitatory amino acid (EAA) receptors and nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs). KYNA plays a significant role in various neuropsychiatric disorders and the aging process.
source →Background One of the primary causes of morbidity and death is still acute ischemic stroke (AIS). Although mechanical thrombectomy (MT) yields better results, problems such as partial functional recovery persist.
source →Background Long-term outcomes after endovascular thrombectomy (EVT) and the role of adjunctive neuroprotection to achieve post-stroke independence remain incompletely characterized.
source →" This study aims to measure changes in language ability after adding cerebrolysin to standard treatment for non-fluent aphasia patients with post-stroke language impairment.
source →The standard therapy for acute ischemic posterior circulation stroke (PCS) often leads to poor functional outcomes and high mortality rates, despite all advances in reperfusion therapy.
source →Traumatic Brain Injury TBI is one of the most common causes of death and recovery failure worldwide. Each element of treatment, starting from possible surgical treatment, patient monitoring and neuroprotective treatment, can be important in the overall outcome of patients' treatment.
source →This study, E-COMPASSII is a phase IV clinical trial designed as a multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, parallel-group study. This study will enroll 80 subacute stroke patients with severe motor involvement.
source →The aim of the present clinical phase IV study is to estimate the influence of Cerebrolysin in combination with standard therapy on the dynamics of recovery of the paretic upper limb in patients with acute ischemic stroke. Each patient participates in the study for 176-190 days (approximately 6 months).
source →The investigators conducted a randomized, double-blind, trial enrolled 60 patients within 12 hours of acute ischemic stroke (AIS) in China. Patients were randomly assigned to receive a 10-day infusion of dl-3-n-butylphthalide (NBP) or cerebrolysin, or placebo.
source →It should be shown that Cerebrolysin in combination with Alteplase, the medication that should recover the blood flow through the brain, is an effective and save medication to treat ischeamic stroke.
source →The study was performed to compare the safety and efficacy of Cerebrolysin (10 mililiters \[ml\]), Aricept (10 miligrams \[mg\]), and a combination of both treatments on cognitive performance and global function in patients with probable Alzheimer's Disease (AD).
